Just in time for Christmas is a festive platter of timeless seasonal classics from the unmistakable voice of Fred Jackson. His first album entitled "Moving On" was very well received and before Fred passed away in November of 2000 he was able to bring us this delightful collection of favorite Christmas tunes, including such favorites as Mel Torme's Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting) and Sammy Cahn's jewel "Let it Snow". Fred grew up in Memphis, TN and was a jazz drummer before he picked up the mic and started crooning, scatting and swinging. His irristible voice has aged but soothes like an old comfortable chair that has weathered the test of time in continuing to provide comfort and joy. As you listen to this album you will hear Fred using his voice like an instrument weaving a tale for us to hear.In his career in Charlotte, NC, where he lived from 1994 to his passing in 2000, he received much recognition and many awards. He was named male vocalist of the year (1996) in Creative Loafing and was inducted into Ft. Wayne, IN Jazz Club's Hall of Fame in March of 2001. After Fred's passing he was honored at Festival in the Park in Charlotte, NC where The Fred Jackson Memorial Blues Experience featured many prominent blues artists and the mayor of Charlotte presented Fred's wife, Jackie, with a proclamation of The Fred Jackson Day honoring his contribution to the music scene in Charlotte.(September 21, 2001) Fred loved to perform and gave 110%. At one time he said "I give people the truth and what I do is from the old school. I'm carrying the torch and hope to leave a mark". That he did and he will be sorely missed. Fred was a true inspiration to both young and old and his story is one of hope, joy, sadness, love and life. He believed that you can accomplish anything in this life if you set your mind to it. He hoped that everyone found someone to love and as he said at the end of every one of his performances, "GOD BLESS YOU."
