C H E M E T I C. I thought I knew exactly, but I looked it up just in case. It wasn't there. The closest thing to it meant: "composition and extraction of existing compounds, elements and studies/ synthesizing of natural and artificial elements- (&) the physical response to a sense organ by chemical stimuli. Changing from the inorganic to the organic." You get the idea. Jerry Peterson has always been abounding and prolific, but this time he has teamed up with his stablemates, (work horse and war pony/ Ricky Hirsh and Michael Murphy) and brought us back to the glory days of afternoon delight/ Spelling television. Blasting back to images of plaid pants and white belt of Huggybear in the track; "Got Away Clean"- and the concluding tribute track "Love (Back To The Blues) Boat"- you gotta dig this cat/ man. When MOR and "easy listening" usually belies the lighter weight extractions of virtuoso musicianship, JERRY and his group take "Blues for Maurice" and the Latin salsa flavored dance contest, "c h e m e t i c" to the groove in the middle of the road. This authenticates their ability to kick out the nostalgia, and bring it to the jam. Influences of George Benson and Boz Scaggs.
