If you like straight ahead 70's style hard rock with heavy drums and screaming guitars then this is the band for you! Formed by Jamie Purpora (guitar, vocals), Jeremy Crowther (drums) and Roger Brown (bass) in Los Angeles in 1994. The idea? Go back to the blues to re learn the roots of rock and roll (which most of our contemporaries have missed). And then evolve back to the hard rock we loved growing up! Interstate Blues have released six albums "Let It Go" (1996), "Interstate Blues" (1997), Velvet (1998), "Southern Lips" (2000), "White Lightning" (2003) and "El Diablo" (coming June 2005). With each release the songs and sound get more refined and more personal. Their song "Velvet" (from their release "Velvet") was used in an episode of the TV series "Pensicola Wings Of Gold" in 1999 and their cover of the Willie Dixon/Buddy Guy classic "I've Got My Eyes On You" (from the release "Interstate Blues") was used in an episode of the WB series "Angel" in 2003. Between 1994 and 2003 Interstate Blues have played over a hundred shows in the Los Angeles area. From B.B. Kings to The Blues Saloon to The Mint to The 1650 Club. Jamie Purpora has also appeared at the Chicago Blues Festival in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003 performing with Koko Taylor and countless others. The band stopped performing live from July 2004 until June 2005 to concentrate on "El Diablo". The release of "El Diablo" in June of 2005 shows a complete return to hard rock. It is also a concept album. "This album is dedicated to all who have fallen in love or lust with the wrong person." "I think almost anyone can relate to that!" says Jamie Purpora. Purpora also adds "For every song that made it on this record there were five that didn't." "I had to be completely satisfied with every guitar lick and every lryic". The band will begin playing live again June 29th 2005 at The Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Strip and there will be many shows to follow!
