HARLAN CAGE: Harlan Cage S/T
The first Harlan Cage CD was released in 1996 and received some amazing reviews despite the fact that the album was put together in a hurry with few expectations in an era when corporate record labels had started to turn their backs on quality music, instead favoring 'flavor of the month' disposable artists. Without much promotion the CD did really well in Europe and in Japan which proved that there were still some fans of real music out there, fans not 'blinkered' by the overwhelming hype and marketing of the corporate record labels.Fortunately Harlan Cage (S/T) was a CD that kept the melodic rock flag flying high with quality writing and beautiful melodies throughout the album.

Remember the band FORTUNE? They were a truly amazing AOR/Pomp/Arena Rock act from Los Angeles, who recorded one album for Camel/MCA which is rated by most foIlowers of Melodic Rock around the world as an all time classic. With songs such as "Dearborn Station", "98 in The Shade", "Smoke From A Gun" and "Bad Blood", they had all that a genuine lover of Power Rock could ask for. Now in 1996, the main songwriters, singer Larry Greene and Keyboard player Roger Scott Craig are back to carry the inheritance of the music FORTUNE invented as HARLAN CAGE. The name HARLAN CAGE is taken from the American folklore character who was either a preacher, beggar, gypsy or thief depending on who is telling the story. The material on their debut, just like the Fortune album, has been co-wriiten between Greene and Craig. But collaborations with Steve Porcaro (Toto) and Tom Whitlock (mainly known for his songs in many soundtracks such as Top Gun and Over The Top) have been included in the final track list. Larry Greene worked with Whitlock on soundtracks, performing solo songs on, among others, the Sylvester Stallone movie "Over The Top", the Julia Roberts movie "Mystic Piazza" and the Tom Cruise hit movie "Top Gun", where Larry perfoms the truly amazing "Through The Fire". For now, Roger and Larry have decided to keep HARLAN CAGE a duo, with guest apperances from Ron Aniello (Lonesome Romeos), Billy Liesegang and Michael Langlan adding skillfully played guitars to the awesome keyboards from Roger Scott Craig. The HARLAN CAGE album has been getting a superb response since its release. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
