JAMES GUEST: Souls of GospelSINGER/SONGWRITER JAMES GUEST
BRINGS THE SOUL OF GOSPEL
TO ADULT CONTEMPORARY ACOUSTIC ROCK
NATIVE TEXAN'S DEBUT SINGLE "LOVE YOU" FROM
ACCLAIMED DEBUT HITS THE AC TOP 40
From the clubs of Waco, Texas to the airwaves all across the United States, James Guest is riding a wave of positive energy, bringing his unique, uplifting brand of acoustic rock to fans of Adult Contemporary music everywhere. "Love You," the acoustic rock flavored first single from the native Texan singer/songwriter's NeoSpirit Records self-titled debut "James Guest Souls of Gospel", has been chart hopping all over New Music Weekly, a publication dedicated to the promotion of indie artists.
The track first appeared on the Up and Coming chart before jumping to chart bound and has now cracked the Top 40 AC chart, alongside well known performers Sheryl Crow, Jim Brickman, Matchbox 20 and Kenny Loggins. New Music Weekly also featured Guest in its "Artist Spotlight" column, which gave listeners insight into his love of music, God, Harleys and nature. In just a few weeks, "Love You" had received over 500 spins on 25 stations across the U.S.
Growing up in the small town of Mexia outside of Waco, Guest's first musical performances were in the church choir, and he continues to participate in many church and non-profit events in the region. While Guest has played rock and roll professionally for many years, the songs he presents on James Guest Souls of Gospel reflect a deep sense of spirituality even as he's chronicling the ups and downs of human relationships. Titles like "Love At First Sight," "It's All Right," "Sing," "My Best Friend" and (his personal spiritual philosophy) "God Knows" convey the same sense of optimism Guest brings to audiences in his live shows.
"I want my music to make people feel good and positive about their lives," he says. "My songs convey a sense of hope on a personal level as well as a spiritual one. There's also the sense of pride I have as an American. Since it's my debut CD, I felt it was important to reflect family values, and the strength and spirit of love and the power it has to help us overcome obstacles," he says. "It's all about the difference we make in each other's lives."
As part of numerous original and cover bands, Guest shared billings with many rock greats like REO Speedwagon, Bachman Turner Overdrive and Ted Nugent. He began honing his songwriting skills in his early teens and over the past few years has been performing with his band Souls of Gospel. Guest describes them as "a unique group of musicians performing groundbreaking rock influenced songs composed of hook filled pop originals with positive lyrics and messages, about love, life and relationships."
James Guest resides in Texas, where he spends some of his free time leading hope prayers at correctional institutes sharing positive musical messages with songs to help make a difference in those who are released from the institute with a newfound confidence and love. Souls of Gospel is also known as S.O.G.
Members are KAT E. Troulinos-Wong and Jeffrey L. Wong. They are the music behind the voice. The live show features KAT on a variety of instruments from flute to Techno Synths. Jeffrey plays guitar and serves as the musical director for this band.
