NED VAN GO: Marry A Waitress
NED VAN GONed Van Go is proud to announce the release of its third full length CD entitled “Marry a Waitressâ€. Produced by Eliot Houser at Studio E in East Nashville, TN., the sound and content of this record is a bit edgier than previous NVG releases; you might call it our working class record. As with “In Stereo†and “Rain, Trains and The Lord Almightyâ€, there is some humor and melancholy here but also a glimpse into such southern characters as the working waitress, the career factory worker and the ever lingering, sometimes sweet faced, southern racist. We also for the first time include two great songs by outside writers on this release: “Never Kissed a Girl†by Carbondale, Illinois band “Woodbox Gang†and “No Sleeping in Penn Station†by the late great Kentucky band “Government Cheeseâ€. Along with our five man crew, we were proud to have guest appearances from Donnie Herron (fiddle), Mark Miller (standup bass), Michael Webb (accordion), and Kris McCarthy (backing vocal) to help fill out the sound. How do we label it? Roots rock? Folk Rock? Twang Pop? Something like that. It’s the usual blend of rock, pop, folk and country. Call it whatever you want. We hope you like it.
