worships the super-group hey-days of the late 60's and early 70's and purveys or "carrys the torch" for album-rock groups that wrote, performed, and recorded their own music.
on "Bowling alleys, BBQ joints, and Billiard Halls", McGovern and company mix country-rock, piano driven boogie,
and southern melody pop songs (i.e. Big Star, Dwight Twilley Band) to give a perfect blend of sounds sure to please. also check out Brandon McGovern's 1st release on CD baby. a minimalistic folk-rock-pop album entitled "pala-dora".
the group is mainly comprised of Brandon McGovern (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Dave White (bass, vocals, guitar, piano),& Bill Padgett (drums, vocals, piano). many special guests appear on "bowling alleys....", Bill Pitcock IV (Dwight Twilley band), Neil Dirickson (Nude Furniture), Kevin Wright (pedal steel)and Sean Standingbear (a hip osage native american with the meanest of slide guitar). also check out the covers of Dwight Twilley's "you were so warm" and a raucous version of T-Rex's "lean woman blues".

McGovern & the "Scrappers" are currently recording their 3rd album in Tulsa...
look for a release in the fall of 2006.
the newest recordings are reminiscent of the obvious Beatles/Badfinger/Big-Star/Dwight Twilley Band connection mixed in with a return to some folksier acoustic work and a tendency to really rock with tunes ala NRBQ or Chuck Berry.
